All children of compulsory school age must be enrolled in school and attend every day – this is the law. All children must attend school up until they are 16 years old. At East Waikiki, the school day runs from 8.30 until 2.30, every weekday. Students arriving after the 8.30 chimes must report to the office and give a reason for their lateness. Parents of students who are absent are expected to contact the school via SMS, Connect, the Website or by phone to give a reasonable explanation for the absence. Department processes may need to be followed for poor or unexplained attendance.
