At East Waikiki Primary School all students from Kindergarten – Year 6 are involved in Physical Education Activities, with all students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 taught by our specialist Physical Education Teachers. PE lessons are taught in conjunction with the Australian Curriculum, with junior school students focusing on Fundamental Movement and Game Skills, and senior school students moving towards game-based strategy and understanding movement.
Our school runs faction carnivals for swimming, cross country and athletics every year and competes strongly in the Rockingham Area School Sport Association (RASSA) district’s interschool carnivals, having been crowned overall champions in Cross Country (2017), as well as B Division swimming champions (2017 – 2019) and C Division Athletics Champions (2016, 2018).
East Waikiki PS also has students in Years 4-6 compete in seasonal lightning carnivals in Netball, Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, AFL, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Teeball and Flag Belt Rugby. In 2017, our school won the RASSA Red Division Overall Champion School shield (from the cumulative results of the aforementioned sports), after winning pennants for AFL, Netball and Cricket during the year.
Our school cricket team in 2017 won through to the State Finals at the WACA, finishing fifth; our second trip to the finals after previously being crowned State Champions in 2014 and being flown to the MCG to compete in the National Finals, where we finished seventh in the country.
East Waikiki PS has a strong sporting culture, with great participation and results from all students. We are extremely proud of our school’s sporting achievements as well as our students’ continual sportsmanship and attitude.
