Principal’s Update 6th April

Kaya parents and carers,

I’d like to begin by thanking all of our students, families and staff for the way they have navigated the challenges of Term 1, 2022. Masks, vaccinations, illness, isolation, new rules!! So much to factor in around the normal routine of teaching and learning. However, we have done it together and we have done it well – so ‘thank you’ J

Term 2 promises to be another interesting one. Some of the rules are changing. We are able to hold more events such as assemblies however there are some restrictions on these and parents will still not be permitted in classrooms. Parents will be able to order at the canteen with physical distancing rules applying. Please contact us at the school if you have further questions.

Students return on Tuesday 26th and we will be having our ANZAC service outside at the flagpoles, on that day at 1:45pm. Parents/carers may attend our ANZAC service provided they comply with mask wearing and physical distancing requirements.  Close contacts will not be permitted. Please keep across our socials and messaging service for details.

NAPLAN kicks off in Week 3 and the term finishes up with all staff engaging in professional learning to support our whole school approach to literacy. Literacy will look a little different at East Waikiki in Semester 2, but more on that as we get closer.

Yanga (thanks), stay safe and enjoy the time with your family.
