At East Waikiki Primary School, we use the Positive Behaviour in Schools (PBIS) model of behaviour reinforcement as part of our everyday teaching and learning. The philosophy is that the praise that we give to students for positive behaviour should far outweigh any negative reactions and consequences for misbehaviour. It is all linked closely to the qualities of our three EWPS values, which are:
- Care
- Respect
- Trust
At East Waikiki we also follow 4 Rights and Responsibilities of Teaching and Learning
- Everyone has the right to work in a clean and safe environment.
- Everyone has the right to teach and learn without interruption.
- Everyone has the right to be treated courteously and respectfully.
- Everyone has the right to have their property respected by others.
