Dear Parents and Carers,
In Week 10, we will be holding our yearly Faction Cross Country Carnival. Students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will take part on Monday, 29 June 2020. The format will be very similar to our 2019 carnival, with students competing in set distances around the oval. Due to COVID-19 regulations, spectators will be invited to watch from the footpaths along Gibb Rd, Willmott Dve and Carnegie Loop. There will not be any access to the oval or school for spectators during the day. To support social distancing measures, spectators are asked to attend for the child(ren)’s event at the time stated below and then leave to ensure other spectators can watch their children run.
Students will come out to the oval in year levels, compete in their event, witness the medal presentations and return to class to limit the number of students together on the oval at the same time. Some recess and lunch breaks will be taken at different times to allow the carnival to continue throughout the day. Approximate running times and presentations are set out in the table below:
Students must compete in shoes. Please ensure students wear appropriate shoes for physical activity. Students must bring a water bottle and asthma medication if necessary. In the case of light showers, the carnival will go ahead as planned. Please send a change of clothes as a precaution. In the event of thunder, lightning and heavy rain, the day will be postponed to a later date.
